Jewellery Valuations

A jewellery valuation provides a comprehensive document, including descriptions, images, and values of the piece. We engage an independent valuer for this service to ensure accuracy. Valuations are ideal for insurance purposes, sales, or understanding your piece's value. It also ensures a streamlined claim process should you lose or damage your piece.

Please note that we engage an independent valuer for this service, which means your jewellery will be sent offsite. Rest assured, your piece is fully covered under our insurance while it is in our care, ensuring its safety and security throughout the valuation process.

Valuation Process

Cleaning & Checking
Our valuation process starts with a meticulous cleaning of your jewellery by our in-house jewellers. This ensures that all diamonds, coloured gemstones, and precious metals are pristine for accurate assessment. At this point we can also ensure your ring is in good condition and let you know of any repairs needing to be done. Condition of the item will be reflected in the valuation.

Detailed Examination
Our valuers examine the piece and write a detailed report which includes the following information:
- A comprehensive description of the piece, covering all key aspects.
- How the piece has been manufactured.
- Test the purity of the metal and check stamps & hallmarks.
- Condition of the piece.
- Identify and types of stones and their grades.
- Determine approximate weights and measurements of the piece including metal, and gemstones.
- Detailed photographs.
- Independent dollar value of the piece including current gold price and exchange rate listings.

Valuation Report
All findings are compiled into a detailed report (example to the right). This report includes high-quality images, thorough descriptions, and the assessed value of each piece, ensuring you have a complete and accurate valuation document.

Why Get a Jewellery Valuation?

Insurance Purposes
Getting a jewellery valuation ensures peace of mind in case your jewellery is lost, stolen, or damaged, as it streamlines the insurance claim process. Accurate valuations are essential for insurance companies to provide adequate coverage, allowing you to replace your cherished items without financial strain.

Understanding Your Jewellery's Value
Jewellery often increases in value over time, especially as material costs rise, and heirloom pieces may be passed down through generations. Valuations ensure you accurately know the worth of your jewellery, whether for insurance purposes or setting a price for resale, preventing undervaluation and ensuring you fully appreciate its true value.

Why we use an Independant Valuer

Ensuring Impartiality
Using an independent valuer guarantees impartiality and objectivity in the valuation process. This ensures that the assessed value of your jewellery is fair and unbiased, providing you with a reliable valuation you can trust.

Expertise and Accuracy
Independent valuers bring specialised expertise and industry knowledge, allowing them to accurately assess the value of your jewellery. Their experience with various types of pieces and materials ensures a thorough and precise valuation.

Credibility and Trust
An independent valuation adds credibility to your jewellery's value, which is crucial for insurance claims, resale, or personal knowledge. Knowing that a neutral third party has assessed your jewellery enhances trust and confidence in the valuation report.
